DEEP’s director Thomas Wallner and cinematographer Nico Jolliet executed a very successful first test shoot of the Münchner Rundfunkorchester (Munich Radio Orchestra) in collaboration with Bavaria’s public broadcasting service BR. They worked closely together with BR’s technical team to try out new 360 cameras and capture techniques, and importantly, 360 sound.
Powered by DEEP’s Liquid Cinema technology, we have launched the first broadcaster dedicated 360/VR platform: ARTE360. This mobile app from the European cultural network ARTE provides immersive and interactive experiences in 360°-video and virtual reality and is available on both iOS and Android.
This year for the first time, Hotdocs created a dedicated virtual reality showcase that allows audiences to experience the future of documentary cinema using GearVR and Oculus Rift. Our Polar Sea 360 and Songs of Freedom were among the four projects showcased.
